Rederi Ab Fjärdvägen becomes Eckerö Link

To emphasize the Eckerö Group’s strategy of offering “floating bridges” where sea transport is the most sustainable and natural option, Eckerö Group has now changed the name of the company we acquired in August. The new name is Eckerö Link Ab.

“The connection between Åland and mainland Finland has long been the missing link in our offering. Through this name change, we want to clarify that this link is now part of our transport chain,” says Björn Blomqvist, CEO of Eckerö Group.

The Eckerö Group now consists of three business areas and brands: Eckerö Linjen, Eckerö Line, and Eckerö Link. With the acquisition, we have gained a more comprehensive geographical presence – from passenger and freight traffic with Eckerö Linjen and Eckerö Line to the strengthened freight traffic now operated under Eckerö Link.

“The name change is a natural step to clarify the connection to the Eckerö Group and our integrated transport solution. We are pleased that the operation is now part of a larger and stable Åland-based shipping context,” says Jonas Henriksson, CEO of Eckerö Link Ab.
